wrong we are at times

I am also a party to it and so I also have to be blamed. I thought and thought about it and finally I want to put it in paper. See, I am working for a Pharma company. Every Pharma company has a target to achieve and each of these companies sets goals and the employees work for it. Similarly, all pharma companies try to out do each other. Eventually when the targets and goals are achieved they become ecstatic and set more difficult targets to achieve.

This what is happening in every companies. But, when it happens in a pharma company, it is something to be reviewed from an outsider point of view. What is the meaning of a target for a pharma company? If we carefully think about it we can understand that the target is indirectly nothing but the effort needed to be put forward to see the number of increasing consumers. Who are these consumers? The products of a pharma company are not luxury items purchased for enjoyment. These are medicines, bought by the consumers, who have fallen ill.

Therefore the growth of a pharma company completely hinges on the increase in the number of patients. So, we all work and earn salary which is derived from the prices that these patients paid for buying the medicines. Say, if a company has got some thousand employees in its payroll, in order to get lucrative salaries, they require millions of people around the world to suffer. In short, the money that a pharma company or its employees earn is out of the sufferings of the people and their diseases.

So, are we, as the employees of  pharma companies right in what we are doing? Though from outsiders''perspective it doesn't look right, in order to earn our daily bread we are forced to do all such things. Least we can do is to hope and pray that all our world citizens live a healthy and a prosperous life.

Thus, when these pharma employees are craving for achieving more and more targets for our benefits, we better think again.
