Die hard fans of Roger Federer-A marvellous journey

The fans of Roger Federer could not have expected a better start to the year 2011 when he won the first tournament that he played which was at Doha. It was in the 1st week end of January’11 when the man who was famously nick-named as GOAT (Greatest of all times) took the court in the final against Nikolay Davyedenko. For some reason I was unable to get that channel on my television which telecast the final and so was just googling for a site to get the scores before finally my instinct got me reminded of the official page of Roger Federer in fb.
I clicked an option by name “discussion board” and I saw the scores were getting updated every point. Soon I joined the discussion trying to give my expertise on the match which, Federer, straight away started dominating. It was then I got an invitation from one of the members to click a link and join a page which was called “die hard fans of Roger Federer”. Soon, I became a page member and this was the only page in which I was a member by then. Federer won the final and I was more than happy so to say as it was his second successive title which followed his victory over Nadal in ATP world tour finals back in Nov’2010.
It was all going well ever since my debut in my favourite page in fb till the semifinals of Australian Open 2011 when Roger went down to Novak Djokovic, almost surprisingly, in straight sets. Suddenly, having nowhere to look upto, deeply saddened by my hero’s defeat, was a bit delighted to see some soothing comments from the page, which was so dear to me in fb.  I can tell you if those comments were ever read by Roger, would have boost his self confidence sky high and he might have won all the titles ever since he played till now. All the emotions that we had been enduring, as Fed fans, especially in such a gruesome year so far for him in which he has only won one title thus far, had to be expressed and the only medium which served  as a succour was nothing but our page “die hard fans of Roger Federer” a brain child of its young  and resourceful admin. Any emotion which could not be expressed would really be a silent killer and so thanks to the admin for having created such a wonderful page. As I write this blog, there was a shocker of a disaster Roger had to suffer in the semi finals of the US open after leading two sets to nil against Novak Djokovic. Though there are different views floating around amongst most of the fed fans regarding the possible “give away” of the match by the great man to avoid Rafa, as a fan I felt entirely lost but as soon as I saw numerous comments from various fans in our page recording their views, I am now much more relaxed.  When we share our feelings specially those which had hurt us we would feel that our mind had become that much lighter. This is what pages like these do to us giving us enormous mental strength to bear such things which would have otherwise toppled us for a couple of days atleast.
Having seen many fan pages of many sportsmen, I can vouch, however, none is better than “Die hard fans of Roger Federer”. Even when there is an off season in tennis, rare anyways, you find numerous photos and information posted on the great champion by the admin as well as other members which keep the page active always.
I am really grateful to the admin and other members for considering even my statements and responding to them every time whenever I asked them anything. I have hardly found any unparliamentary language expressed by any of them till now in my nine month long journey in the page. The great champ, I am sure, will love it when he reads the comments or photos in the page and will surely be overwhelmed.
For those who wonder why I am writing about this page and not on RF, I would like to tell them he has not done anything this year for us to be amused whereas this page has really redden our cheeks bursting us into  laughter on many occasions.
Thank you and well done Admin. Great going.
